Wilson Avenue & Decatur Street
In the heart of Bushwick, where the industrial history of Brooklyn meets its vibrant modern culture, SRE Engineering provided expert oversight for a critical infrastructure modernization project. Located at the high-traffic corridor of Wilson Avenue & Decatur Street, this project was a vital task order under a NYCDDC Large Infrastructure Requirements Contract. Working as a key component of the Resident Engineering Inspection (REI) team, SRE Engineering acted as the primary technical filter for the project. Our responsibilities centered on ensuring that the physical reality of the construction matched the precision of the engineering designs. Our work focused on three pillars: Infrastructure Integrity: We supervised the complex installation of new sewer lines and water mains, ensuring that materials and placement met the highest NYC DEP standards to prevent future main breaks and flooding. Field-Level Precision: By maintaining rigorous quantity tracking and daily reporting, we provided the city with a transparent view of project progress, ensuring that the $20 million master requirements contract was utilized with maximum efficiency. Tactical Coordination: We managed the constant interplay between construction crews, utility providers, and local stakeholders. Our team ensured that utility interruptions were minimal and that street restoration was completed to a standard that enhanced the neighborhood's long-term walkability.
